Dan MacDonald’s oil paintings are explorations into wide accessibility. As a dedicated student of historical Western painting styles, Dan likes to use familiar old world painting techniques and elements to address contemporary topics. He uses these representational styles to serve his philosophy: that a piece of art should be appealing to the eye before it intellectually engages the mind. The end result is a unique display of magical realism, surrealism, and otherworldly visions à la Magritte, Goya, MC Escher, and the Romantic painters.
