Fulton Market Kitchen May Be Chicago’s Coolest-Looking Bar

A bar with art on the walls is one thing, but at brand-new restaurant/lounge hybrid Fulton Market Kitchen (311 N. Sangamon St., West Loop, 312-733-6900) the place is a work of art in and of itself. After you enter through the red-and-black-painted door, it’s full-on aesthetic overload. There are street-art-inspired murals, pop portraits of Batman, wooden boats dangling from the ceiling, and a bar back made of stacked chairs. Yesterday you saw the art-themed Fulton Market Kitchen space, today you see the art-themed menu. Executive chef James Gottwald (Monti's, Sunda, Rockit) and chef de cuisine Kyle Petersen (Ceres' Table, Naha) have put together a creative contemporary menu filled with many trendy items done in new ways. Starters, small plates and large plates include "Goldfish for Two" (whole fried red snapper), "Two Tails" (pig and lobster), and "Ravioli and Foie." Fulton Market Kitchen Aims to Feature Great Food and Fine Art

FULTON RIVER DISTRICT — A new restaurant opening at 311 N. Sangamon St. later this month hopes to expose its patrons to great food and fine art, with roots at Ceres' Table, Sunda, Rockit, Naha and more. Fulton Market Kitchen is set to open March 21. Early images of the space and menu showcase a gritty dining room with exposed brick and pipes, a more refined lounge area stocked with tufted leather sofas, and an ingredient-driven menu centered on meat and seafood. Another restaurant is getting ready to open its doors in West Town, and the owners are so proud of their space that they sent over some pictures of the decor. Fulton Market Kitchen (311 North Sangamon Street) is scheduled to open on Friday, March 21st. We’d like to tell you what kind of food to expect, but we won’t for two reasons. First, because we’re an architecture blog and are only mentioning this because the pictures Fulton Market’s PR firm sent over are pretty cool.
