Joey Asal is recent NYC transplant and a graduate student of design at the School of the Art institute of Chicago. In addition to a rich portfolio of dynamic large scale site-specific installations, Joey is a trailblazer at the Art Institute, exploring the sensory experience in all its capacities, most notably as it relates to the sense of smell.

Really enjoyed reading about Joey Asal’s approach to sensory art. It’s interesting how design can connect with memory and perception in such a subtle way. On a practical note, I’ve also been using Umi-OCR, a free browser-based OCR tool that extracts text from images and scanned PDFs, with a focus on privacy.
I spend a lot of time testing AI tools, and one thing I've learned recently is that image generation quality is improving much faster than most people realize.
Some AI-generated photos now look more realistic than heavily edited real photos.
I built ImageAIChecker as a side project to explore this problem and help people better understand what they're looking at.
Would love to hear where people think AI image detection is heading next.

I've been comparing real voice recordings with AI-generated ones over the past few weeks.
Honestly, some of them are nearly impossible to distinguish without looking more closely at the audio patterns.
I put together a small tool while experimenting with this:

Would be interested to know how often people can correctly guess whether a clip is human or AI.
Water bills have gotten ridiculous where I live, so I've been looking into drought-tolerant lawn options lately.
This site has some helpful breakdowns of grass types for dry climates:

Worth a look if you're trying to use less water but still keep a decent lawn.
